Newcastle hoping to re-sign Demba Ba

Chelsea striker Demba Ba has been told that he can leave this summer, when he will be offered to several other clubs in the Premier League and in Europe, according to the .

That could open the door for Ba to return to Newcastle United, where he is likely to earn the first-team football that he is looking for. The Magpies are struggling in attacking areas at present, with Loic Remy approaching the end of his loan spell from Queens Park Rangers, while Shola Ameobi and Papiss Cisse have both struggled to find the net this season.

Newcastle tried to bring Ba back to St. James’ Park on loan back in August, but they were put off by Chelsea’s asking price of ?3m. They will be hopeful of getting him this time, however, with the Blues intent on overhauling their current striking options.

Ba has struggled to make a significant impact at Chelsea, starting only 14 Premier League games, but has occasionally scored crucial goals, none more so than the winner against Paris St. Germain in the quarter-finals of this season’s Champions League.

Chelsea’s asking price this summer for Ba is likely to be in the region of ?7m and while Newcastle would like to have the Senegalese forward back, the face competition from clubs in Italy and Turkey.
